Born in Heraklion, Crete (1964)

Professor of General Linguistics in the Department of Philology, Faculty of Letters at the University of Crete (previously, from Nov. 1994 to Apr. 2016, Academic Associate, Adjunct Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor).
Visiting Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin (2010-2011 academic year and Winter semestrer 2015-2016). Postgraduate distance lecturing at the same university, in the same capacity (Winter semester 2012-2013).
Visiting Professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris, Summer semester 2012-2013).

Awarded the Municipality of Heraklion Nikos Kazantzakis Prize for the Humanities, 2011.
