
Professor of Modern Greek Literature in the Department of Philology of the University of Crete. She was born in Athens, 1961, and has studied literature at the University of Thessaloniki, where she also prepared her thesis about the generation gap in Greek literature (1995). Special Interests: Greek Literature of 19th and 20th c, Comparative Literature. She has published several articles and longer papers about Papadiamandis, Vizyinos, Christomanos, Kazantzakis, Kosmas Politis and others. She has received the “Abdi İpekçi Peace and Friendship Prize” 1999 for her study on the portrait of Turks in Greek novels, and the “National Essay Award” 2005 for the book Literature in the Tumultuous Decade 1940-1950. She has been Head of the Department of Philology (January 2013 - Augoust 2016) and Dean of the Faculty of Letters (Sept. 2018-Aug. 2021).
